1.Mumbai, with an Average Room Rate (ARR) of Rs 6,400, leads in city-wise hotel performance. The city is said to be the financial capital of India and is India's second most populous extended urban agglomeration as per the 2011 census. Mumbai caters to leisure as well as business visitors, making it a perennial hospitality destination.

2.NCR's economy is being driven by construction, power, telecommunications, real estate and service industries. Its ARR is Rs. 6,280. With luxury tax net set to be broadened in Delhi, state hotel rooms and other luxury indulgences like health clubs, spas etc. will get more expensive.

3.Bengaluru which leads in the serviced apartments business has ARR of around Rs 5,000-6,000. It is to be noted that Bengaluru is a business destination with nearly 80 percent of demand coming from business travelers. With the onset of festivals, this half of 2012 will witness lesser room rates and more travellers.

4.The Chennai hotel market had seen quite a few introductions in the past few years. Chennai’s ARR comes to Rs 4,900. The city, it is to be noted, has recorded the highest occupancy levels amongst the top six Indian cities at 64 per cent.

5. Kolkata has always been perceived as a conservative market performer compared to other metropolitan cities. Its hotel inventory is mostly spread over budget and luxury segment with little mid scale inventory. Kolkata’s ARR is Rs 4,770.

6. Hyderabad with Rs 3,500-4,000 as the average room rate records the lowest average occupancy rate as well to 54 percent. The ARR's have also declined in an attempt to maintain occupancy
